Damian is a corporate lawyer who advises on mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, joint ventures and contracts and is a recognised expert in Treaty of Waitangi matters.

Damian advises a number of clients on a range of commercial matters and has extensive experience in the establishment of joint ventures and the negotiation of commercial contracts.  He has managed a number of merger and acquisition projects, including undertaking and reporting on due diligence and negotiating sale and purchase agreements.

Damian is also a recognised expert on all Treaty of Waitangi matters and has acted for numerous iwi in Treaty settlement negotiations with the Crown.  He has also helped establish, and continues to advise a number of Maori entities that receive and manage a variety of assets.

Damian has recently advised clients on fisheries law and forestry related matters.  He also advised a number of charities on registration with the Charities Commission and associated issues.

Before joining Kahui Legal this year, Damian spent almost 10 years working for Bell Gully, a major commercial law firm in New Zealand.  Prior to joining Bell Gully, he was General Counsel for the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission.
